A landmark for Malaysian cold chain infrastructure

Ally Logistic Property (ALP), a Taiwan-headquartered developer and operator of smart logistics infrastructure, today announced the development of OMEGA 2 Shah Alam — its first purpose-built smart cold chain facility in Malaysia and second OMEGA project in the Klang Valley.

Located on a 9-acre site in southern Shah Alam, Selangor, OMEGA 2 will be Malaysia's first developer-built multi-storey Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) cold chain facility. With approximately 577,000 square feet of built-up space and more than 30,000 pallet positions, the development represents a total investment of approximately RM500 million (US$127 million), with completion targeted for Q2 2028.

Designed on a multi-tenant model, the facility enables multiple supply chains to operate within a shared infrastructure ecosystem — reducing duplication of logistics assets and lowering overall energy consumption across the supply chain network.

Addressing Malaysia's cold chain gap

Malaysia's cold chain logistics sector is at an inflection point. Industry projections place the market's value at USD 993.68 million in 2025, expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 12.87% through 2034. Selangor alone accounts for an estimated 38% of the national market, driven by its proximity to Port Klang and KLIA. Yet despite this rapid growth, purpose-built and automated cold storage facilities remain limited across the country.

"Cold chain logistics is becoming increasingly important across sectors such as food distribution, pharmaceuticals, retail and e-commerce. However, Malaysia's cold chain infrastructure market remains relatively underserved in terms of automation, scalability and energy efficiency." Bryan Yeo, Managing Director, Ally Logistic Property Malaysia

OMEGA 2 Shah Alam is designed as a multi-temperature logistics hub integrating four distinct storage zones to serve the growing needs of Malaysia's most demanding industries: ❄️ Frozen storage

🌡️ Chilled storage

💨 Air-conditioned storage

📦 Ambient storage These multi-temperature capabilities position OMEGA 2 to serve a broad range of sectors, including food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, retail and e-commerce — industries that share an urgent need for reliable, scalable cold chain infrastructure.

Sustainability and ESG at the core

Beyond operational efficiency, sustainability is a foundational design principle. Through high-density AS/RS systems and intelligent energy management, OMEGA 2 Shah Alam is expected to significantly reduce energy consumption and improve resource utilisation compared to conventional cold storage facilities.

The project aligns with Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 — both of which emphasise sustainable industrial growth, energy efficiency and the adoption of advanced technologies to strengthen Malaysia's position as a competitive regional logistics hub.

Government endorsements

The announcement has been welcomed by Malaysia's key investment and industrial promotion agencies.
